SozoCode Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") offers a fair and transparent refund policy for VisuaLeaf subscriptions. This policy outlines when refunds are available and how to request them.
1. 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
1.1 Eligibility
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all VisuaLeaf subscriptions (monthly and annual).
You can request a full refund if:
- It's been less than 30 days since your purchase
- You are not satisfied with VisuaLeaf for any reason
- This is your first purchase (not a renewal)
No questions asked - we believe in our product and want you to be confident in your purchase.
1.2 What Qualifies
Eligible for refund:
- Initial subscription purchases (monthly or annual)
- Upgrades from Basic to Professional tier (refund price difference)
- Duplicate purchases made in error
NOT eligible for refund:
- Subscription renewals (unless canceled before renewal)
- Purchases made more than 30 days ago
- Licenses terminated for Terms of Service violations
- Trial accounts (trials are free)
1.3 Refund Amount
- Monthly subscriptions: Full refund of the current month's charge
- Annual subscriptions: Full refund if requested within 30 days of purchase
- Upgrades: Refund of the price difference if unsatisfied with Professional tier
Example 1: You purchased an Annual Professional license for $149 on March 1. On March 20, you request a refund. You get a full $149 refund.
Example 2: You purchased a Monthly Basic license for $10 on February 15. It renewed automatically on March 15. On March 18, you request a refund. Only the March charge ($10) is eligible for refund, not February.
2. Subscription Renewals
2.1 Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
How to cancel renewal:
1. Log in to your account at visualeaf.com
2. Go to Account Settings → Manage Subscription
3. Click "Cancel Subscription"
4. Confirm cancellation
After cancellation:
- You keep access until the end of your current billing period
- No further charges will occur
- Your account remains active (you can resubscribe anytime)
2.2 Renewal Refunds
Renewals are generally NOT refundable, except:
Exception 1: Cancellation Failure
- If you attempted to cancel before renewal but it failed due to a technical issue on our end
- Proof required: Screenshot of cancellation attempt or email confirmation
Exception 2: Price Increase Without Notice
- If we increased prices without 30-day advance notice
- Refund: Difference between old and new price
Exception 3: Legal Requirements
- If required by consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction

3. Refund Request Process
3.1 How to Request

Alternative: Contact Stripe support through your purchase confirmation email or receipt.

- Acknowledgment: Within 24 hours (business days)
- Decision: Within 3-5 business days
- Processing: 5-10 business days for refund to appear (depends on payment method)
Business Days: Monday-Friday, excluding U.S. holidays
3.3 Refund Method
Refunds are issued via the original payment method:
- Credit card: Refund to the same card (5-10 business days)
- PayPal: Refund to your PayPal account (3-5 business days)
- Other methods: Processed by Stripe (our payment processor)
We cannot issue refunds to different payment methods or accounts.
3.4 After Refund is Approved
Once approved:
- Your license is immediately revoked
- You must uninstall VisuaLeaf from all devices
- Your account will remain active but without a valid license
- You can repurchase anytime if you change your mind
Your local data (queries, configs) remains on your computer unless manually deleted.
4. Partial Refunds
4.1 Prorated Refunds (Case-by-Case)
We may offer prorated refunds in exceptional circumstances:
Examples:
- Service outage lasting more than 7 consecutive days
- Critical bug preventing Software use for extended period
- Billing error on our part
Not guaranteed - reviewed case-by-case at our discretion.
4.2 Downgrade Refunds
If you downgrade from Professional to Basic:
- No refund is provided
- You keep Professional access until end of billing period
- Next billing cycle charges the Basic rate
5. Special Situations
5.1 Duplicate Purchases
If you accidentally purchased multiple licenses:
- Within 30 days: Full refund for duplicate purchase
- Contact us immediately: admin@sozocode.com
- Proof: Receipt showing duplicate charges
5.2 Unauthorized Purchases
If your payment method was used without your permission:
- Contact your bank/card issuer immediately to dispute the charge
- Contact us: admin@sozocode.com to suspend the license
- We will cooperate with fraud investigations
Important: We cannot refund purchases made by others using your email without your consent. Work with your bank on chargebacks.
5.3 Technical Issues
If VisuaLeaf doesn't work due to:
- Software bugs or crashes
- Compatibility issues with your OS
- License activation failures
First try:

2. Check system requirements (visualeaf.com/docs)
3. Update to the latest version
If we cannot resolve the issue within 14 days:
- You're eligible for a full refund (even after 30 days)
- We'll document the unresolved issue
Note: We cannot refund issues caused by:
- Incompatible operating systems (e.g., Windows 7, macOS 10.14 or older)
- Third-party software conflicts
- MongoDB server issues (not our software)
5.4 Beta/Experimental Features
Features marked as "Beta" or "Experimental" are:
- Provided "as is" without warranty
- Not grounds for refund if they don't work as expected
- Subject to change or removal
We recommend not relying on beta features for production use.
6. Non-Refundable Items
6.1 Out of Refund Window
- Purchases made more than 30 days ago
- Subscription renewals (unless exceptions in Section 2.2 apply)
6.2 Terms Violations
- Licenses terminated for violating Terms of Service or EULA
- Fraudulent purchases or trial abuse
- License sharing or unauthorized redistribution
6.3 Third-Party Costs
We do NOT refund:
- AI API costs (if using AI query features through our service)
- SendGrid costs (if you enabled email notifications with your own API key)
- MongoDB Atlas charges (we don't provide MongoDB hosting)
- Stripe payment processing fees (non-refundable)
7. Student/University Licenses
7.1 Verification Requirement
Student licenses require proof of enrollment:
- School-issued email address (.edu domain)
- Valid student ID or enrollment letter
If verification fails:
- License will be downgraded to Individual pricing
- You'll be charged the price difference
- OR you can request a refund (if within 30 days)
7.2 Refund Policy
Same 30-day money-back guarantee applies to Student licenses.
Note: Educational discounts are non-transferable. Refund invalidates future Student discount eligibility.
8. Company/Team Licenses
8.1 Seat Changes
Adding seats: No refund for existing seats when adding more
Removing seats: Prorated credit applied to next renewal (no cash refund)
Example: 10-seat Company license @ $199/year/seat = $1,990/year. You remove 2 seats after 6 months. Credit of approximately $199 applied to next renewal.
8.2 Bulk Purchase Refunds
30-day money-back guarantee applies to the entire Company license purchase.
After 30 days: Individual seats cannot be refunded, but you can reduce seat count for next renewal.
9. Chargebacks & Disputes
9.1 Contact Us First
Before filing a chargeback with your bank, please contact us at admin@sozocode.com.
Most issues can be resolved through:
- Refund (if eligible)
- Account correction
- Dispute resolution
9.2 Chargeback Consequences
If you file a chargeback without contacting us first:
- Your license will be immediately revoked
- Your account will be suspended
- You may be banned from future purchases
- We may pursue legal action for fraudulent chargebacks
Exception: Unauthorized transactions (fraud) - chargebacks are appropriate.
9.3 Chargeback Fees
If a chargeback is found to be unjustified:
- You may be charged a $25 chargeback processing fee
- Your account will remain suspended until resolved
10. Regional Laws
10.1 Consumer Protection Laws
Certain jurisdictions have laws that supersede this Refund Policy:
European Union:
- 14-day "cooling off" period for online purchases (EU Consumer Rights Directive)
- Right to cancel digital products before download/use
- Our policy is MORE generous (30 days) but you have these rights regardless

12.1 Can I Repurchase?
Yes! Refunds do not ban you from repurchasing.
Exception: Repeated refund abuse (purchasing, refunding, repurchasing) may result in:

- Denial of refund requests
- Account suspension
Fair Use: We expect users to request refunds in good faith, not as a way to use the Software for free.
12.2 Trial Eligibility
If you received a refund, you are NOT eligible for another free trial.
- One trial per email address (lifetime)
- Refund does not reset trial eligibility
